Claudia Rivera-Gruvis
MA, Mental Health Counselor
I’m a mental health counselor in the Boston area who works with women navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, grief, and relationship or family challenges.
My approach to therapy is rooted in warmth, collaboration, and meeting clients where they are. I believe that each person is the expert of their own experience, and my role is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, build insight, and move toward meaningful change at their own pace.
I use a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to therapy and incorporate strength-based work into my practice. I have experience supporting clients through periods of uncertainty, emotional overwhelm, identity exploration, family dynamics, domestic violence, and major life transitions.
I have completed Postpartum Support International's Components of Care training, the field's foundational program for assessing and treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs). This training has deepened my ability to recognize the full range of what pregnancy and postpartum can bring, not just postpartum depression, but perinatal anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and the harder-to-name moments of rage, intrusive thoughts, or feeling like a stranger in your own life.
I know that becoming a mother reshapes identity, relationships, and your sense of your own body. I work to create a space where clients don't have to minimize what they're feeling or perform being "fine." My approach blends evidence-based psychotherapy with genuine warmth, helping clients feel less alone in an experience that can at times be isolating.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy baking, trying new fitness classes, reading, and spending time outdoors.
Taking the First Step
Beginning Therapy
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. Many clients reach out after spending months — sometimes years — wondering whether they should seek support.
If you're considering therapy, we'd love to help you take the next step.
